What the eleventh role brings
Each kit's supporting characters carry a concrete stake of their own: an allowance to defend, a contract already signed, an article to verify, a professional fault to admit, debts, a career move. They are supporting by function, because the case does not collapse without them, not because their evening is thinner.
At eleven you are using five of the six, so only one stays as a background figure whose document is still in the folder. The four files list their casts on the murder mystery kits page.
Printing and copies at eleven
Twenty-two character pages, plus the exhibits: twenty-four in two of the kits, thirty in the other two. At this size print a second copy of the exhibits people crowd around, typically the register, the timetable and whatever document carries the times.
Sort the exhibits into folders by act before anyone arrives, with the opening minutes written on the folders. Eleven people waiting while a host hunts for a document is the one thing that breaks the pace.
Seating and moving around
A table for twelve, or a main table plus standing room. The negotiation of the personal objectives needs people to get up and talk in pairs, so leave a corner free. If your room forces everyone to stay seated, warn the table that they can call someone over rather than shouting across the dinner.
The host sits where they can see the folders and the clock. They are the twelfth person: eleven players plus a host who does not play a suspect.
Pacing eleven people through three acts
The schedule in the guide is the same at eleven as at six: silent reading, acts opened at fixed minutes, thirty minutes of synthesis, ballots, reveal. What changes is that conversations multiply, so the host has to announce the act changes clearly and firmly.
A practical trick: at each act change, ask the table for one sentence each about what they have learned. Eleven sentences take four minutes and stop a large group from splitting into two separate games. It also lets a quieter guest place something they noticed early, which large tables tend to talk over.
The minute-by-minute schedule is in the guide on the case file portal, so the host is never improvising the pace.
The cost and the twelfth guest
One price, $39.90, from six to twelve players. If a twelfth person confirms the day before, you print one more pack and deal the last supporting role, with no extra purchase and no change to the exhibits.
If you are regularly more than twelve, the kits stop there and the custom murder mystery is the format that goes up to twenty-five, written around your own group. What an evening looks like end to end is on the printable murder mystery kit page.
Frequently asked questions
Is the eleventh character a minor role?+
No. Supporting characters have their own secrets, a personal objective and three conversations with core characters. They are optional in the sense that the case survives without them, not in the sense that their evening is emptier.
How many exhibits do we print at eleven players?+
All of them, twenty-four or thirty depending on the kit, plus a second copy of the two or three documents everyone reaches for at once. Character packs are printed only for the roles you deal: twenty-two pages at eleven.
Can we go above twelve players?+
Not with a kit. Twelve is the maximum, because the file holds twelve character packs. For a larger group the custom scenario is written for up to twenty-five players.
