How the Final Reveal Opens Online

Close the negotiations at the minute given in the guide and collect the declarations and signed agreements. Hand out the ballots and let everyone write alone. Collect them. Only then does the host open the case file portal with the order's code and enter the name. Doing it in that order matters. If the host opens the reveal while ballots are still being written, someone will read over a shoulder, and the last ten minutes of deduction are the best part of the evening.

A text written to be read aloud, in paragraphs, that walks the table back through the night in the right order: what really happened, which object was involved, which time was misread, which alibi was false and what it was hiding. It names the culprit and explains the motive, then says what each of the other suspects was actually doing. Some kits add social endings to combine, depending on what the players signed during the evening. The host reads those after the reveal, so the epilogue matches the agreements actually deposited.

Three wrong attempts open a safety exit and the reveal appears anyway. That is deliberate: a host who has read the solution weeks earlier, or who is typing a name with an accent at eleven at night, is not going to be locked out of their own party. The accepted spellings are generous: a first name alone, a surname alone, the full name, a title with the surname, or the character code from the file. Nothing in the page contains the accepted answers, since the check happens on the server.

Because a printed reveal is a page somebody finds. The older kits kept the solution behind an unlock button inside the PDF, which was decorative: scrolling was enough. A guest opening the file on a phone to check a page could land on the answer, and the host had a second PDF to keep face down all evening. Online, the text does not exist in the page until the server sends it. Every sheet you print can be read by anyone, which also means you can print the whole file without sorting out what to hide. Read slowly, and do not skip the sentences that clear the innocent characters: half the table is waiting to hear that their own secret was not the crime. Pause after the culprit is named. If someone got it right for the wrong reason, the text usually makes that visible without anyone having to argue. Then announce the three results separately, investigation, defence, personal points, and let each person give one sentence about what their character does next.
